I'm Tim Micallef (I'm an MCAST student, 2nd yr environmental sustainability at IAS).
I would like to invite you and all MCAST students, on behalf of our team, to the ACT! Youth & Environment Fair on Friday October 31 from 10:00-18:00 in the Grand Ballroom at the Phoenicia Hotel. The ACT! Fair is an event to introduce local youth to the wide variety of environmental NGOs and initiatives operating in Malta. This event will take place from the ACT! team which has been set-up through an EU Youth in Action project.
The aim of the fair is to show youths, students, adults and the wider public the missions and values of NGOs in a fun and interactive way. We wish to promote youth participation through volunteering opportunities, and by raising awareness on environmental issues in Malta and beyond. To capture the attention of the youth the fair embraces an interactive format, with active and varied workshops on topics such as recycling, sustainable lifestyle and nature research, as well as an environmental movie theatre and a marketplace where the organisations have a stand with further information about their work and volunteering options.
The ACT! Youth & Environment Fair is a great opportunity for your students to meet organisations where they can learn valuable skills through voluntary work, give their education further depth and importance by contributing to ongoing research projects, and gain work experience before entering the job market. Participation in the fair is free.
Would it be possible to distribute a few posters through the administration promoting this event (particularly at my own institute, IAS, as most NGOs are science/environment related), and possibly also by email to encourage MCAST youths to attend?
Please feel free to contact us should you have any further queries. We look forward to hearing from you!
