GreenITNet

MIEMA will host the final conference of the project Green IT NET which will take place from 9.00 till 15.30 on Wednesday 12th November 2014 at SmartCity, Kalkara.

The experiences on the transfer and implementation of good practices focused on green Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and greening by ICT in Europe will be shared and discussed during the meeting.

Europe has already pledged to reduce by 2020 the emissions of greenhouse gases by 20%, with regards to 1991; several Member States, regions and cities, however, have committed to even greater reductions. Implementation of Green IT solutions are expected to be able to make a large contribution towards this ambition. Specific collaborative initiatives have been launched in a number of cities and regions to carry out targeted reductions and introduction of renewable energy. "Green IT" has been recognized throughout the world as necessary to achieve the objectives of reducing CO2 emissions. This concerns both the energy efficiency of ICT and ICT infrastructure (Greening), and the opportunities for ICT as a tool to develop new and smart solutions for a more careful use of energy (Greening by IT ).
