On Saturday 31th May a group of part-time MCAST students following the 'Basics of Fibre Optics' course attended to a fibre cable preparation session taking place at Marsa as part of their on-field training. The cable, made up of 288 individual fibres, is property of GO and the company's qualified installers guided the students and lecturers through the whole process answering all the questions. The preparatory work was being done for the eventual splitting of the cable and the operation was very delicate because some of the fibres were actually in use and could not be damaged. The process lasted all morning and the location, a high traffic road, requested a number of safety measures to be taken to ensure everything went according to plan.
MCAST IICT would like to thank GO for their continuous support in this field and for making this activity possible.
