The Foundation College within the Institute of ICT at MCAST together with the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate embarked on a project to raise health awareness on Obesity, Diabetes, Salt and Sugar level in food, Drinking and driving among other topics.
IICT Foundation students (Level 2) developed games using Scratch to help the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate to portray their message across different age groups by using technology. At the end of the 2016-2017 scholastic year all health related games developed by students were assessed by the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate for the right message which the games could pass on to the general public.
Three students were short-listed: Svetoslav Kasabov, Daniel Cassar and Naim Lagana. A certificate of participation together with a Euro 10 voucher by PCZone and Euro 5 voucher by TechPoint were awarded to these students in a ceremony held at the Institute of IICT. Present for the certificate presentation were: Mr Conrad Vassallo (Director, Institute of ICT), Mr Jean Paul Tabone (DDPM, Institute of ICT), Dr Pauine Vassallo (Director Department for Health Regulation, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention), Ms Graziella Attard (ICT Project Coordinator, 2016-2017) and Mr Ivan Briffa (Student Support Services Coordinator).
