MCAST ICT Foundation Level 2 students from Malta and Gozo were given the opportunity to visit the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) Data Centre in Sta. Venera on Wednesday 14th March and Wednesday 21st March 2018. Both groups were accompanied by MCAST lecturers Mr. Joseph Hales and Mr. Alex Attard from Paola MCAST while Mr Mark Anthony Cassar and Ms Joan Ellul from the Gozo MCAST.
MITA is the central driver of Government’s Information and Communications Technology policy, programmes and initiatives in Malta. Throughout the visit students had the opportunity to get a general overview of what MITA’s role which is to deliver and implement the assigned programmes as set out in the Digital Malta National ICT Strategy 2014 – 2020. Students were also informed about MITA’s innovation hub located at Smart City whose main objective is to support platform for ideas and evolve projects and proposals. During the visit, students had also the opportunity to explore into different careers offered by MITA for which they can gain through the entrepreneurship scheme.
Students gave positive feedback for industry visit at MITA as this would help them with their studies adding more inspiration and determination to reach their essential objective for a career within the ICT sector.
