Aġenzija Żgħażagħ would like to invite young people aged 16-19 to participate in its MEPATHON Summer Camp which is being held over a period of three days at Villa Psaigon – Dingli on 4-5-6 July 2017.  Applicants should be young people who are interested in contributing new ideas and offering solutions to reshape a better Europe.  Mepathon attracts young people who do not ask what others can do for them  but who are ready to take the initiative as active European citizens and address important issues themselves.  Training, team building and discussions  will be held to facilitate a simulation exercise on the best way forward within a European democratic process.

Experts, youth workers and young people who have participated in similiar sessions before will facilitate the programme.  Resolutions on how change can be effected will be approved during a General Assembly of the participants and will be presented to Maltese MEPs.  Working language throughout the sessions will be English.  Participation in the MEPATHON Summer Camp is free, but a deposit of Eur 50 will be payable by those chosen to attend, and refunded after successful completion of MEPATHON.

The MEPATHON Summer Camp will also serve as the national selection event of the Model European Parliament (MEP), for which Aġenzija Żgħażagħ is the local representative.  The Model European Parliament is a training ground for future leaders and politicians as well as for talented young people who share an interest in European issues.  MEPATHON participants will be evaluated throughout the camp by the facilitators conducting the sessions.  These facilitators will form the adjudicating panel that will declare 4 winners who will eventually be invited to participate in MEP Helsinki. Helsinki is the European destination where the next international session of MEP will be held between 4-11 November 2017.  Aġenzija Żgħażagħ will be covering the balance cost for 4 young people to take part in the 47th international session of the Model European Parliament in Helsinki, Finland, after each winner pays a participation fee of Eur 150.

Young people who are interested in participating in MEPATHON are to send an email to agenzija.zghazagh@gov.mt with their cv and a motivation letter for applying by not later than 31st May 2017.  Young people under 18 will also need to attach a consent form signed by parents / guardians.
