MITA in collaboration with the Computing Group within the Faculty of Education, and the Ministry for Education and Employment, has launched the National Coding Competition 2014. The competition targets primary and secondary school students and aims to encourage them to learn programming in a fun environment. Through this competition we also aim to encourage students to pursue their studies in Computing. For more information about the competition and to view the programming environments that can be used please visit www.mita.gov.mt/codingcompetition
We need the help of 2 mentors to guide a team of students in year 5 and another team in form 2 create a game using Gamemaker Studio Standard, Scratch, Kodu, or Google Blockly.
The game submissions are due by December 5th and the mentors will probably need to spend about 15-20 hours with the students over the next 3-4 weeks.
Mentors will be well paid for their efforts and will be given a letter of reference for their portfolio.
If you would like to be a mentor and require more details please contact Sarah Farrugia on sarah-jane.farrugia@gov.mt or phone 2599 2138.
