PTL Ltd is seeking to recruit a Database Administrator to join its Database & Middleware Services Team to support its
diverse client base.

Based in Malta and reporting to the Database & Middleware Services Manager, the Database Administrator will provide
installation services and support in Oracle or DB2 or Informix, carry out maintenance and troubleshooting, and design
databases. The Database Administrator will be responsible for database file systems, backup and recovery procedures,
writing, editing and optimising SQL statements, performance, tuning and monitoring of databases, recommending
improvements, and carrying out maintenance.

The successful candidate will have completed tertiary education, and will be able to demonstrate a can-do attitude with
a strong work ethic and a passion for technology.

Core proficiency in logical and physical database design, stored procedures, triggers, backups and upgrades within
Oracle or DB2, coupled with the ability to research, recommend and apply new solutions is essential to the role. The
ideal candidate will have a track record for handling multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment. Although
specific training will be provided, at least two years’ experience in databases, especially in DB2 or Oracle and scripting
using PL/SQL, will be considered an asset.

Knowledge in Application Server Technologies (IBM WebSphere, Application Server Network Deployment, Apache
Tomcat, Glassfish), Web Server (Apache HTTP Server, IBM HTTP Server), Windows, Redhat Linux and AIX Unix, Shell
scripting and experience in High Availability, Infrastructure, Performance Tuning, Security, LDAP /SSO will be
